Cool Toys Pic of the day – Yahoo Pipes

Yahoo Pipes:

Yahoo Pipes is not new. I’ve been talking about it for years. Somehow,
I don’t think my verbal descriptions are really helping folk get what
it does, tho. So there are three screenshots attached.

One image shows the homepage for Yahoo Pipes.

Another one shows a pipe that someone else made to collect RSS streams
from Twitter that are tagged with the major healthcare discussion
groups (#hcsm, #hcsmeu, #socpharm, #hpm.). The pipe was able to be
copied and edited, so I grabbed it and added #fdasm. Those are all in
the top lefthand box labeled “Fetch Feed.” That box connects to a
second box, called “Filter” which cleans up some of the retweet notes
and similar cosmetic items so that the newsfeed looks clean when
retrieved. That box connects to the box called “Pipe Output.” There
are other boxes displayed on the screen, but you will notice they
aren’t connected by a wire, which means they aren’t actually doing
anything. So this can be as simple as THREE boxes. Even as simple as
TWO. There are guides and instructional videos, and really, you don’t
need to do the geek stuff like RegEx to make this useful.

Really. Look at the third image. That’s the output. Not bad, not bad at all.
