Cool Toys pics of the day: Tornado Path

Ed Vielmetti mentioned this tool a couple weeks ago when reporting on
the Dundee tornado, but I didn’t notice it until Phil mentioned it on
the a2b3 list.

TornadoPaths from the University of Michigan shows the past 48 hours
of tornado activity in the United States. It allows you to zoom in to
specific areas of activity, like (ahem) my home stomping grounds of
Iowa where it seems like there are always tornados this time of year.
It also will show you tornados on this day in history, which is kind
of interesting.

A similar tool for the historical information is the Tornado History Project.

The Tornado History Project gives you more information, with both
basic and advanced search, specific locations, the path of the
tornado, the intensity levels from F? to F4, map or table view, and
export of the .csv data to make your own spreadsheet.

There are other storm information tools. Check out the Online Tornado
FAQ, Storm Forecast Tools and the Storm Prediction Center all from the
US NOAA.
