Face in Space:
http://faceinspace.nasa.gov/

I have been hanging on the edge of my seat, watching NASA activities
since I was a small child, scooting too close to the television during
the moon landing and having my mom yell, “Stay 3 feet away!” In my
current position, I’ve been watching with great interest the whole
Obama social media phenomena shift into transparency, open government,
and Gov 2.0. NASA has totally blown all the rest of the government out
of the water with their early adoption and extremely effective use of
social media. Unfortunately, this hasn’t been enough to save them from
having the incredibly important manned mission program be cancelled, a
thought which literally causes me to turn pale. The implications of
the loss of this portion of the space program is frightening. The Face
in Space initiative is a small consolation prize and yet another
demonstration of NASA’s effective use of social media. You, too, can
have your picture on one of the final two manned space flights from
the United States.
