framework. Mahara, meaning ‘think’ or ‘thought’ in Te Reo Māori, is
user centred environment with a permissions framework that enables
different views of an e-portfolio to be easily managed. Mahara also
features a weblog, resume builder and social networking system,
connecting users and creating online learner communities.” Learner communities is the key phrase. I am puzzling over this a bit.
I haven’t used it but am intrigued by using e-portfolios for functions
beyond that of connecting the portfolio creator with either teachers,
potential employers or other hierarchical relationships. Using the
e-portfolio to simultaneously create relationships with mentors and
peers, as a tool to enrich personal learning networks. It seems
obvious, but I don’t know that this potential use has been clearly
articulated before. It probably has, but this is where I found it, and
I wanted to share it with you.
